11,500

of the 15,086 students in Wicomico County public schools are considered to be from at-risk populations with only 9 total school psychologists and 33 social workers.

70%

of school-age students in Wicomico County live in Tier 4 or Tier 5 poverty conditions. Poverty is linked to many other Adverse Childhood Experiences and barriers to mental health services.

Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in Maryland. In Wicomico County, 70% of school EP's are for suicidal ideation.

1 in 44 children in Maryland are diagnosed with Autism. The diagnosis rate for Autism is rising by 10-17% each year.

Maryland is currently designated a Mental Health Professional Shortage Area, with only 19% of mental health care needs met.

In 2020, Maryland ranked 13th in the nation with a 36% increase of children ages 3 to 17 with anxiety or depression either reported to or diagnosed by a doctor or health care provider.
